HISTORICAL SUMMARY1989 - UST system is removed from the subject property. No reports of the removal were required at the time, and no closure reports are available. 1992 - Utility reports the odor of gasoline from an excavation in the tree lawn of the subject property. 1993 - Initial investigation by Environmental Consulting Group, Inc. confirmed the presence of contamination. Investigation points to contamination from the former tank cavity, but some indications are that the property across the street and up-gradient may be contributing to the contamination. 1995 - Remedial Action Plan (RAP) is submitted by Environmental Consulting Group, Inc. and approved by BUSTR. The RAP called for the use of insitu bioremediation, specifically utilizing Bio Rem's H-10 applied by Bio Rem through 10 new wells that would be installed in the property. Monitoring would be conducted every six months, and additional applications were to be made as necessary. 1995 - The wells were installed and applications of product performed. 1997 - Bio Rem was approached by A&M Auto and asked to conduct a follow-up study and make any necessary recommendations for further treatment. (Environmental Consulting Group, Inc. had since ceased business operations, and no documentation of interim monitoring was found by the property owner, or Bio Rem). 1997 - All of the wells on the property were sampled and the investigation by Bio Rem concluded that although the program had worked to significantly reduce contamination, additional product application was necessary to complete the remediation process and bring the soil and groundwater below action levels. A proposal for additional well placements and application of product was submitted to A&M Auto. A&M Auto decided not to follow these recommendations. 2000 - Bio Rem was again consulted by A&M Auto (now Simon's Auto Service) in response to a request by BUSTR for additional investigation. 2001 - Bio Rem has restarted remedial activities and the reporting of these activities. In conjunction with the remedial activity, further investigation has been completed. 2002 - Bio Rem continued its biological treatment of the know contaminates on a bi-monthly basis in order to facilitate budgetary needs and is herein providing further sampling to determine the progress of that action. 2002 - The site contamination has been more completely defined. The gas station on the property to the east has probably not contributed to the contamination of this property, but testing has taken place in the last year to which we have no data. The sandstone porosity in the source area has steadily increased allowing for better migration of treatments. Significant reduction in the contamination levels continues to be achieved.
